We added a new doctor to our team on Thursday. Dr. Rutecki is a neurologist at UW-Madison and he is a welcome addition to our medical team. Dr. Rutecki - AKA - Paul, spent plenty of time with us, answered 100s of questions and even spent some time going through Nic's old, old, old medical records, trying to get a better understanding of everything he has been through. I feel so excited to have him help us regulate Nic's seizures. Dr. Rutecki said that he probably couldn't stop Nic's seizures, but at least we could help control, regulate or reduce them. After spending time with Dr. Rutecki, he told us that we should meet with the pharmacist because he could help us better understand what we were going to do with Nic's medications.
"Michael" and "Carl" came in to meet with us then (the pharmacists) and explained how we were going to increase one of Nic's medications in hopes of eliminating one of the others. They, too, spent plenty of time with us, reviewing medications, their interactions, and other medications we could try in the future.
Dr. Rutecki also mentioned that although it looks like the tumor is spreading to other places in the brain, the enhancement is light. A more progressed tumor would show up white on an MRI and these spots showed up light grey. Maybe with the new radiation, we were able to slow or even stop the spread of the tumor.
It's always nice to have a new set of eyes looking at things.
On a side note...I'm not going back and checking grammar and punctuation...I'm sure it's pretty bad. Eleanor woke up at 1:11 AM and decided it was up time. Nic and I took turns going back and forth with her until finally Nic got out of bed and watched TV with her...Now we are a tired Terrones Family and her party starts in 4.5 hours. We are all in pjs still, I'm nursing my coffee and dragging getting the house picked up.
